We’ve been in Ireland for a month now and things are sort of settling in. It’s a bit of an adjustment but we are making progress
To all my friends,
“Hi” from Craig, at Martin’s Garage. Some changes are in the air at Martin’s Garage as you may have heard. In the late 90s I worked at a Therapeutic Wilderness Camp in South Carolina designed to help troubled boys. I have always thought it was a good program and wondered if God had it in His plans to use me at a place like that again. In 2007 a similar Wilderness Camp started in southern Ireland known as Comeragh Wilderness Camp. A few months ago the chairman of the board for the camp contacted me and asked if I would consider committing some time to serving as director for the camp. After a visit and a lot of discussion with my wife and family we decided it would be a rewarding experience for us.
There are a lot of broken homes and drug abuse in Ireland. Just as in the US the children are the ones who suffer from these kinds of social problems. I look forward to working with the camp to develop relationships with the government and local people to help establish camp as a good place to send their youth. The camp also works to serve the Christian community by offering a Leadership Challenge Program for Youth Boys.
For more information on the camp or to get on an occasional update, send an email inquiry to [email protected] or [email protected]. You can also visit www.wilderness.ie to see the camps website.
